London Data Events

Recently I’ve been on a journey to expand out A&M Technology Solution’s data capabilities and decided to attend a couple of key data events in London this month, starting with the Databricks State of Data and AI World Tour last week and Big Data London that I attended today.

Some notable takeaways from me were around;

  • The use of wearables and health tracking devices will increasing enable apps to use this data to provide personalised information to help us manage our diet or movement patterns. This will be especially valuable to us as we age and face either high blood pressure, cholesterol issues, or face the risk of diabetes or being pre-diabetic. Through the use of data we will be better able understand our bodies responses to the food we eat or how much exercise we are taking, and let the apps give us personalised advise on what types of food our bodies need next, i.e. more protein of more fibre. Certainly, I think this could revolutionise my next 20 years.
  • I went to a really great lunch with Dael Williamson, CTO at Databricks, who spoke about how data platforms can leverage AI to enhance BSB email marketing by pinpointing exactly customers pain points and providing this context in the content of the email. Underlying this he also spoke about how important it is to bring in business leadership to the AI initiatives and get buy-in to the fact that there may need to be some experimentation before success can be achieved, and that there is not always a quick route to value.
  • How Generative AI is making inroads into professions like project management, helping Project Managers and Business Analysts develop personas, validate requirements, simplify requirement language, analyse organisational lessons learn logs, and historical development velocity. There’s some good free training material on Coursera on this topic also.

I hope you find this first blog for A&M Technology Solutions useful.
